History of Cheshire Stained Glass
Cheshire has many historic buildings that house beautiful stained glass that dates back many years. This page will showcase some of these places, which we have had the pleasure to work on.
Crewe Municipal Buildings
The Crewe Municipal buildings is a grade II listed building built in 1905. It was designed by Henry T Hare, an Edwardian architect. The builidng is used as council offices, it was intially the offices of Crew and Nantwhich borough council and now come under Cheshire East Council. There are no scheduled ancient monuments remaining in Crewe as most of its industrial heritage was destroyed in the 20th century development, However, a small handful of important buildings still remain, the Municipal building is one of these. |
We had the opportunity to work at the Municipal building in 2015. We were commissioned to take out 9 large curved stained glass windows and restore, relead and reinstate them. For more information about The Crew Municipal Buildings, click here. |
