The Creation Window
Project: A new stained glass window for the New Chapel at Church House, 90 Deansgate, Manchester, the home of the Church of England Manchester Diocese.
This window was inspired by the description in the first book of the Bible that tells us how the world was created. Taken from the book of Genesis: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called the Seas. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day And the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also". Designed by Andrew Seddon with the vision of The Venerable Canon Wolstencroft, Former Archdeacon of Manchester: "I worked closely with Canon Alan Wolstencroft during the design of The Creation window for Church House Chapel window. Canon Wolstencroft was very clear with his vision for a modern new stained glass design and we worked through several drafts of the design before the final design was acheived. The result is a beautiful interprtation of the Creation as decribed in Genesis." Andrew Seddon |
