Kettleshulme St James CE Primary School
June, 2009
We completed a school project in Kettleshulme St James CE Primary School in 2009. We were asked to help the school to celebrate the year 6 leavers' time by working with the children to design and make a lovely stained glass window for the school hall. Each child was fully involved with the design of the window, both individually and as a class collaboration, and also did some glass cutting as well as seeing the window being made. As part of the school project they also had the opportunity to make their own small stained glass window to keep, using clear polycarbonate plastic, coloured film and strip lead. "As a church school we uphold Christian principles and values in all our work. Learning is central to all we do and we strive to ensure a cross-curricular approach to curricular management with a strong emphasis on first hand experience." The window aimed to represent the school ethos and the result was a fabulous window, which encompasses these aspects and serves as a lasting tribute to the children from this wonderful small school of just 45 pupils. |
